Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law formally welcomed Dean Charlie Rose III during a VIP reception in Orlando, convening university leadership, trustees, members of the judiciary, alumni, faculty, and community partners to celebrate the future of legal education at Barry Law.

The event marked the official introduction of Dean Rose to the Barry University Law community and highlighted the university’s continued investment in advocacy training, student opportunity, and mission-driven legal education at a time of rapid change across the legal profession.

Attendees included Barry University Board Chair Heather Rohan, Provost Pablo Ortiz, the Honorable Trustee Denise Beamer, members of the Barry University Board of Trustee’s,and the School of Law faculty, staff, and alumni, along with leaders from Central Florida’s legal and business communities.

In remarks during the evening, Barry University’s President Dr. Mike Allen emphasized the significance of Dean Rose’s appointment and the momentum surrounding the School of Law.

“Dean Rose understands the profound responsibility of legal education today. He believes great lawyers must not only be highly capable advocates, but also compassionate professionals who understand the human impact of the work they do,” Allen said.

Rose joins Barry University following a distinguished career spanning military service, legal scholarship, and nationally recognized leadership in trial advocacy education. He served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate, retiring at the rank of Major, and previously spent 14 years at Stetson University College of Law, where he founded the acclaimed Center for Excellence in Advocacy. Widely regarded as a leader in courtroom advocacy and experiential legal education, Rose has taught internationally, including at Oxford University, and through organizations such as the American Bar Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Dean Rose shared his enthusiasm for joining Barry University and building upon the law school’s longstanding strengths in service and student-centered education.

“Together, we are building upon a culture where students are challenged and supported as they prepare for meaningful legal careers,” Rose said. “My goal is for Barry lawyers to be lawyers of choice, professionals known not only for their competence, but for their character and commitment to serving others.”
