Barry students are gaining a new opportunity to take a hands-on approach to career development through Runnin’ Down a Dream: A Career Practicum, a new course offered at the University.

Dr. Bogdan Daraban, Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration, is teaching the inaugural course as part of a partnership with Bill Gurley and the Runnin’ Down a Dream Foundation. The course is built around six principles from Gurley’s book and focuses on practical steps students can take to build meaningful careers.

Throughout the course, students will research potential career paths, develop their skills, build mentor and peer networks, gain exposure to their desired industries and find opportunities to give back along the way.

Barry University was selected as the pilot campus for the program, providing students with an opportunity to participate in an initiative that could eventually expand to colleges and universities nationwide.

The partnership reflects Barry University’s commitment to creating opportunities that support career development, social mobility and student success. By bringing career exploration and professional development into the classroom, the practicum gives students a framework for building the knowledge, connections and experiences that can help shape their futures.

As the first cohort begins the course, Barry University students are taking an important step toward turning their career goals into reality.
