At Barry University, students are given opportunities to apply what they learn in real-world settings. The 2026 Juried Student Exhibition reflected this approach by placing three graduate students in roles that directly mirror professional practice.
This year’s exhibition introduces a new Curation Series format in the Monsignor William Barry Library 3rd Floor Gallery. Instead of being organized by established curators or gallery professionals, the exhibition has been curated by three Master of Fine Arts students: Bruna Marcon-Weber, Ena Castillo-Barillas, and Joy Johnson. Each student was tasked with selecting artwork, developing a curatorial vision, and presenting their perspective through a written statement displayed alongside their exhibition.

The series is presented in two-week rotations, allowing each curator to showcase their selections individually. In addition to the physical gallery presentations, selected works were also featured digitally during the Fine Arts Picnic and Awards on April 7, 2026.
Experiential learning is a key component of education at Barry University and opportunities like the Curation Series allow students to apply their knowledge in a professional context and gain practical skills that support their transition into the workforce.
The last exhibition by Bruna Marcon-Weber will be on display through May 6 at the Monsignor William Barry Library 3rd Floor Gallery.
