Barry University President Michael Allen has been named to the South Florida Business Journal’s 2026 Power Leaders in Education list, which recognizes leaders making a positive impact on the future of education across South Florida.

Under President Allen’s leadership, Barry University has continued to respond to the changing needs of students and the workforce. The university has expanded enrollment in high-demand fields, launched new AI and health care initiatives, strengthened workforce and talent development, and continued preparing students for an evolving workforce.

For President Allen, education is more than preparation for a career. He describes education as “our greatest catalyst for growth and social mobility” and sees its potential to create opportunities that help define students’ futures.

He also recognizes the role technology will play in education, noting that AI has the potential to make learning more personalized, accessible and efficient.
