Former Barry University goalkeeper and alumnus Devala Gorrick is sharing the lessons from his professional football journey in his newly published book, The American Goalkeeper.

Gorrick has highlighted that his time at Barry University played an important role in shaping him both as an athlete and as a person, and he remains grateful to have been part of the Barry community. Following graduation, he went on to play professional football for 12 years across six different countries before transitioning into coaching, mentoring, and writing.

In The American Goalkeeper, Gorrick reflects on the challenges, setbacks, and perseverance required to pursue ambitious goals. The book shares an honest look at the realities behind professional sports while highlighting themes of resilience, discipline, and personal growth that can resonate with young people pursuing their own dreams.

Today, Gorrick continues to mentor aspiring athletes through Golden Glove Goalkeeping, helping young goalkeepers develop both on and off the field while encouraging them to stay committed through adversity.
