Beginning in Fall 2026, Barry University is excited to launch Career Pathway, a new university-wide initiative that will provide every undergraduate student with a clear roadmap to career success. Designed to help students build career-ready skills from their first year through graduation, Career Pathway ensures every Buccaneer is prepared to confidently take the next step toward a meaningful career.
Career Pathway is a four-year roadmap created to help students build the skills, experiences, and confidence they need to succeed before and after graduation. Each year’s milestones are intentionally aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies, ensuring students develop the professional skills employers value most, including communication, technology, professionalism, equity and inclusion, critical thinking, career and self-development, leadership, and teamwork. Rather than waiting until senior year to focus on career preparation, students will complete meaningful milestones throughout each academic year that prepare them for internships, graduate school, and the workforce, all while receiving guidance and support from the Barry community.
A Step-by-Step Journey to Career Success
Each year of the Career Pathway focuses on a different stage of career development:
Year 1: Explore interests, discover strengths, and build a strong foundation.
Year 2: Develop professional skills, gain experience, and grow a network.
Year 3: Apply learning through leadership, internships, research, and other real-world opportunities.
Year 4: Launch with confidence by preparing for employment or graduate school.
Students can easily track their progress through Engage, a co-curricular platform, making it simple to stay on course throughout their college journey.
Students who successfully complete each year’s Career Pathway milestones will be awarded up to a $500 scholarship. It’s Barry’s way of recognizing the hard work students invest in preparing for their future while encouraging them to stay engaged every step of the way.
Career readiness isn’t something students have to figure out alone. Throughout the program, they’ll receive guidance from CASA, faculty mentors, and career counselors, who are ready to help them navigate decisions, set goals, and take advantage of opportunities that align with their interests and aspirations.
Barry University is committed to ensuring every student graduates not only with a degree, but with the experience, confidence, and career-ready skills needed to thrive. Career Pathway is more than a program; it’s an investment in every student’s future!
