Barry University men’s basketball celebrates being awarded the 2025-26 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award after finishing the academic year with a 3.17 team GPA.
In addition to the team honor, six Buccaneers were named to the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student-athletes who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. This year’s honorees included Jose Benitez, Michael Bradley III, Sami Elkamel, Adren Roberts, Breno Silva, and Tarrence Warren. Their recognition tied the program record for the most NABC Honors Court selections in a single season.
“Our goal at Barry is to meet the standard in all areas,” said head coach Justin Furr. “We enter each semester with the goal of doing your best on the court, in the community, and in the classroom. I’m extremely proud of our guys for upholding the standard academically this season.”
Furr also credited Barry’s academic support team for helping student-athletes thrive, recognizing their commitment to providing the resources needed for success.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award honors men’s basketball programs that finish the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, while the Honors Court celebrates individual student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the classroom.
This recognition reflects the University’s continued commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel academically, compete at a high level, and make meaningful contributions both on campus and in the community.
