As a recent graduate of Barry University’s MBA program, Zhasmina Kerimova is reflecting on her experience marked by growth, mentorship, and meaningful achievement through the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) program..
She received the Van Williams Memorial Award which signified a special milestone and a powerful conclusion to her time in SMIF. The award is presented to one graduating student in the SMIF program who is nominated for their dedication and contribution. Recipients receive two $350 awards — one to donate to an organization of their choice and the other to support their professional development.
Zhasmina’s breakthrough moment came through her internships at Morgan Stanley, where she interned twice. Those experiences provided real-world exposure to the financial industry and ultimately confirmed that wealth management was the field she wanted to pursue after graduation. The combination of hands-on learning through SMIF and professional experience at Morgan Stanley strengthened her technical knowledge while giving her clarity about her future career path.
Now as she looks ahead, this recognition stands as both an honor and a reflection of the impact experiential learning can have on a student’s future. While closing her chapter with SMIF was bittersweet, the lessons, relationships, and opportunities gained through the experience will continue shaping her path forward.
