Occupational Therapy Class of 2024 Celebrates Completion of the Didactic Portion of the Program with Multiple Events

Students celebrated the completion of the didactic portion of the program with a Symposium and Awards Ceremony, and the Anointing of Hands and Pinning Ceremony.

Students present their final projects and receive academic awards including the Meryl Barns Zigila Most Inspirational Student Award. The events conclude with the Anointing of Hands and Pinning Ceremony, which is a ritual of great significance.

Through the application of oil or lotion, therapists symbolically prepare their hands for the healing journey they will undertake with their clients. This act represents a commitment to empathy, care, and transformation. The ceremony underscores the therapeutic power of touch to foster change, restore function, and improve lives. It’s a tangible expression of the therapist’s dedication to their role as healers and facilitators of positive change, encapsulating the essence of their profession in a single, impactful gesture.
