Dr. Elizabeth Ansert Joins Thibodaux Regional Healthcare to Pioneer Diabetic Limb Salvage Practice in Louisiana, Harnessing Experience from Prestigious Fellowship and Innovative Research
Dr. Elizabeth Ansert is a physician at the Thibodaux Regional Healthcare System in Thibodaux Louisiana. Here, is she hoping to establish a practice as a diabetic limb salvage expert in the area. She completed her podiatric medical education at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and her residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is a recent graduate of the UT Southwestern Diabetic Limb Salvage Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, where she presented her research at the International Symposium of the Diabetic Foot in the Netherlands.
Dr. Ansert first realized her interest in wound care and research at Barry University. Her initial projects were started in the first and second year, which were typically related to forensic podiatry. One of the most important aspects of her learning the skill of research was the support she received from the students, faculty, and staff. These supporters helped her obtain data and guide her through some of the decisions of the research. When she reached the clinical portion of her training, she obtained her first hands-on experience with wound care. This not only solidified her desire to specialize in this area, but also to pursue fellowship to lead the field in it. This idea was again fueled and nurtured by the personnel and experts at Barry University. Additionally, Dr. Ansert continues her relationships with the influential faculty that helped guide her ambitions and career. She conducted research during her residency with a Barry University faculty and was able to publish in her chosen subspecialty. With her connection to Barry University and the continued support, Dr. Ansert believes this has helped her continue her research and strive for excellence in the field of wound care.
