Alumna, Elizabeth Thompson, Shines in Nursing Career: A Heartwarming Reunion

A recent visit to the Education Fair at Aventura Hospital in South Florida turned into an unexpected reunion and a heartwarming reminder of the impact of education.
While engaging in the event, Mureen Shaw had the pleasure of bumping into Elizabeth Thompson, BSN, RN, a proud Barry University graduate and one of her former undergraduate students. Elizabeth, who graduated from our BSN program in 2015, shared her journey post-graduation. From her initial steps at Jackson Hospital to exploring patient care in Texas as a travel nurse, Elizabeth’s career journey is a testament to the excellence and resilience instilled during her time at Barry.
According to Shaw, “Seeing Elizabeth excel and embrace the challenges of the nursing profession with such grace was truly inspiring.” It’s moments like these that underscore the value of our nursing program and the lifelong bonds we forge along the way.
Sharing this story is more than just a reflection on a successful encounter; it’s a beacon of hope and encouragement for current and future students. Elizabeth’s journey from a Barry University student to a thriving professional exemplifies the endless possibilities awaiting our graduates. Here’s hoping we see more of our alumni, like Elizabeth, considering the pursuit of advanced degrees at Barry, furthering their impact in the healthcare industry.
