Two Barry University social work champions have made significant strides in the political arena. Dr. Mitch Rosenwald, Professor and Director of Doctoral Studies has secured his seat as State Representative for District 98 in the recent elections on Tuesday. Dr. Rosenwald’s journey in political advocacy began many years ago, leading him to serve as Vice-Mayor of Oakland Park, followed by his role as Mayor last year. Now, as he steps into his new role in Tallahassee, he will continue to champion the social work values of social justice and inclusivity, ensuring that the voices of his constituents are heard and respected.
We are equally proud to celebrate the reelection of our MSW alum, Representative Darryl Campbell, who has retained his seat as State Representative of District 99. Representative Campbell exemplifies the power and influence of earning an MSW degree from Barry University’s social work program. His commitment to our profession’s knowledge and values continues to inspire and demonstrate the impact social workers can have on society.
Dr. Rosenwald and Representative Campbell exemplify the power of a social work degree, proving that “making a difference” and “being voices of change” are more than just slogans—they are a way of life and a commitment to the people we serve as social workers.
