Barry University has entered into an exciting new partnership that will aid in progressing the future of education in South Florida. Achieve Miami’s Teacher Accelerator Program (TAP) is expanding to Barry University and is opening new doors for students and career changers who are ready to make an impact in the classroom.
Originally launched in 2023 at the University of Miami, TAP was designed to fast-track aspiring educators into teaching roles through an innovative, accelerated training model. In just a few short years, the program has grown into a powerful regional pipeline, now spanning multiple institutions.
Now, with its expansion to both Barry University and Broward College, TAP is extending its reach beyond Miami-Dade County and addressing one of the most pressing challenges in education: the ongoing teacher shortage. By creating accessible, streamlined pathways into the profession, the program is helping schools connect with passionate, well-prepared educators at a time they are needed most.
Participants of the TAP program complete a one-semester course followed by a six-week paid internship to gain real classroom experience and mentorship before transitioning into full-time teaching roles. This model aligns closely with Barry University’s commitment to experiential learning.
In 2025, TAP placed more than 200 teachers into classrooms across the region, contributing to a noticeable decline in vacancies in Miami-Dade County. As the demand for qualified educators continues, TAP’s expansion signals a proactive, collaborative effort to strengthen the workforce across public, private, and charter schools.
