On February 9, 2026, Barry University announced Charles H. Rose III as New Dean of the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law.
Charles H. “Charlie” Rose III is a nationally respected legal educator, scholar, and academic leader and brings decades of experience in legal education, advocacy, and public service to his role as Dean of Barry University’s School of Law. His career reflects a deep commitment to student-centered learning, academic excellence, and the advancement of mission-driven legal education.
Before joining Barry, he served as Dean and Professor of Law at Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law and spent 14 years at Stetson University College of Law, where he built one of the nation’s most highly regarded advocacy programs as Director of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy and Professor of Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
Dean Rose also spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate and rose to the rank of Major. His military career included leadership roles as Senior Defense Counsel, Senior Trial Counsel, Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, and Associate Professor of Law at The Judge Advocate General’s School. His experience spans criminal law, military justice, professional responsibility, and evidence, informing both his scholarship and his approach to legal education.
As Dean Rose begins his new role he shared “As I step into this role, my focus is on further building the School of Law not only as an environment of disciplined learning, but as a community with lifelong, defining impact for our graduates, our faculty, and the people they go on to serve.”
