Dr. Silvia Albertova, Assistant Professor and School Psychology Program Director of the School of Social Work and Mental Health, serves as a co-editor of the international research handbook Growing Up Resilient.

Co-edited with Dr. Gokmen Arslan and Dr. Charles Martin-Krumm, the volume brings together leading scholars and practitioners from around the world to advance strength-based, culturally responsive approaches to children’s and adolescents’ wellbeing. The handbook bridges research, educational practice, and policy, offering global perspectives on resilience, mental health promotion, and positive development across school and community settings.

Dr. Albertova also co-authored the chapter Engaging Educators, Parents, and the Community in Resilience Education, which emphasizes collaborative, system-level partnerships that support students’ social-emotional health and long-term wellbeing. 

Growing Up Resilient serves as an important resource for educators, school psychologists, mental health professionals, researchers, and policymakers dedicated to fostering resilient learners and healthy school communities worldwide—reflecting Barry University’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement.
