Meet Imani McClammy, a passionate scholar currently pursuing a Dual Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Services Administration at Barry University. Originally drawn to Barry for its close-knit community and knowledgeable faculty, Imani found a place where meaningful mentorship and academic growth thrive. “The personal connections I have built with faculty at Barry have fostered my academic and professional growth,” she shared.

Imani’s interest in public health stems from the opportunity to directly influence healthcare policy. “There is a pressing need for more individual research on potential solutions to the healthcare access crisis and health insurance issues,” she explained. This passion has guided some of her academic work, including her most recent presentation at one of the field’s most prestigious gatherings.

At the American Public Health Association (APHA) Conference and Expo, Imani presented her poster titled “Implementing Universal Healthcare in the United States.” Her research explores the essential components, challenges, and potential solutions toward creating a universal healthcare framework that better serves the American population. Imani’s work was also published in The Springer Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration, Public Policy, and Governance.

Imani’s breakthrough moment took place during her undergraduate studies, when she served as a research assistant to Dr. Sean Foreman, the former Chair of Barry’s Department of History and Political Science. The experience honed her research skills and capabilities. Her contributions were so impactful that she was acknowledged in the book “The Roads to Congress 2022” for her exceptional work.

Imani’s time at Barry University demonstrates the power of mentorship, curiosity, and persistence. With her sights set on shaping more equitable healthcare systems, she continues to embody the university’s goal of fostering leaders who make a difference in their communities and beyond.
