Barry University’s Counseling Program proudly celebrates Dr. George Vera, esteemed educator, clinical supervisor, and international authority in counselor training, for being an invited speaker at an Enfoques Humanisticos, Associacion Civil conference in Argentina.

Dr. Vera shared profound insights on the essence of counseling, reminding attendees that “counseling exists because there is human connection.” He emphasized that this human bond, grounded in empathy, presence, and respect, is the true foundation of transformation in the helping professions.

During his presentation, Dr. Vera introduced his Integrative Reflective Supervision Model (2015), a framework that views supervision as an ethical and collaborative process integrating theory, practice, and lived experience. The model encourages counselors to explore their professional identity and autonomy across four key dimensions: communicative, reflective, ethical, and cultural.

His contribution exemplifies Barry University’s commitment to advancing global conversations in counselor education, ethical supervision, and humanistic practice. We are honored to have him represent our program internationally.
