As part of FLASH Week 2025, Barry University will host its annual Core Commitments Luncheon, a signature Founders’ Week tradition that celebrates the institution’s mission, honors its Dominican heritage, and strengthens community across campus. The luncheon invites faculty, staff, and students to reflect on the values that continue to shape Barry’s identity and purpose.

This year’s luncheon will focus on lay leadership and the university’s shared responsibility in carrying the Adrian Dominican charism into the future. The event will feature Sister Elise D. García, OP, Prioress of the Adrian Dominican Congregation as the keynote speaker. Sister Elise will address contemporary challenges in higher education and discuss opportunities for faculty and staff to engage in mission-driven leadership rooted in the Adrian Dominican tradition.

The Core Commitments Luncheon serves as a reminder of Barry University’s enduring connection to its founders and sponsors, the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan. It offers an opportunity to honor their lasting influence and to reflect on how their legacy of truth, compassion, justice, and service continues to guide the university’s work today.

Held as part of the weeklong FLASH Week celebration which brings together Founders’ Week, Legacy, Alumni, and Student Homecoming, the luncheon underscores Barry University’s ongoing dedication to its mission and values. Through this gathering, the university community continues to honor its history while advancing its commitment to faith, scholarship, and service.
