Barry University marks its 85th anniversary with the premiere of Barry Through the Decades, a special exhibit tracing the university’s journey from its beginnings in the 1940s as a small college for women in Miami Shores.

Today, Barry University proudly enrolls more than 7,000 students, representing nearly 80 countries around the world.

“When we know our history, we feel connected to those who came before us and those who share our educational or professional journey today,” said Courtney Berrien, the Senior Director for the Adrian Dominican Institute for Teaching and Learning and Mission Officer. “Knowing what we have accomplished and experienced as an institution provides a greater sense of community and purpose.

It will take place on Nov. 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library, 3rd Floor. This event is open to all members of the Barry community.

The celebration will commence with a lively dessert reception featuring the Prioress of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and distinguished Barry alumni who will take the stage to share their unforgettable moments on campus through the decades.

Students, faculty and alumni will have the opportunity to come together and catch a glimpse of Barry’s momentous history through original artifacts, photographs and stories.

The Barry Through the Decades exhibit will remain open to the public through the end of the year during regular library hours.
