Barry University is strengthening its commitment to student success and sustainability with an exciting new initiative designed to help Buccaneers look and feel their very best. Say hello to Bucky’s Boutique, a stylish, welcoming space located in Thompson 227 that offers students free, pre-loved clothing and career wear. Whether you’re gearing up for your first big interview, dressing to impress for a presentation, or just want to refresh your wardrobe without breaking the bank, Bucky’s Boutique is here to make stepping into success easier than ever.
The inspiration for Bucky’s Boutique began with one passionate Barry student who recognized the negative impacts of fast fashion and aimed to reduce textile waste. From there, the mission was simple but powerful: fight textile waste, support sustainability, and empower students to dress with confidence. Thanks to their vision and the support of the Barry community, that dream is now a reality. Today, Bucky’s Boutique features a thoughtfully curated selection of professional attire and trendy thrifted pieces.
Walking into Bucky’s Boutique, students can expect a friendly, supportive environment where finding your perfect look is both fun and at 100% discount. Dressing rooms are available to try on outfits, mix and match pieces, and leave feeling ready to conquer whatever opportunity lies ahead.
Bucky’s Boutique operates as part of Barry’s Career Closet program, ensuring the process is easy and tailored to students’ needs. Here’s how it works:
- Attend a career event or schedule a one-on-one appointment with a career counselor.
- Book your visit with Simeon Ferguson at careersupport@barry.edu.
Bucky’s Boutique is open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1–4 PM, making it easy to drop by between classes. Students, community members, faculty, and staff are also encouraged to give back by donating gently used items to help keep the Boutique stocked. Donations can be dropped off to Kativon, MCO’s Community Resources Coordinator, at Thompson 211F.
With Bucky’s Boutique, Barry students don’t just dress for success, they do it sustainably, proving that style, confidence, and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
