Barry University and Miami Country Day School have officially launched a long-term strategic partnership that will expand athletic opportunities for student-athletes at both institutions. The agreement allows for shared use of athletic facilities, strengthening the connection between higher education and K–12 education in the Miami Shores community.

Through this collaboration, Miami Country Day students will gain access to Barry’s championship-level fields and training centers for soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and other turf sports. In turn, Barry’s student-athletes including the nationally recognized Barry Bucs swim team will now benefit from Miami Country Day’s top-tier swimming facilities, enhancing their training and competitive edge.

The partnership is part of Barry University’s broader Campus Master Plan, which outlines significant upgrades to athletic spaces. Planned improvements include new multi-sport fields lined for baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, and flag football, turf made from sustainable materials, enhanced press boxes, broadcast-ready lighting, upgraded player amenities, and the planting of 100 new trees to further beautify the campus.

“This partnership reflects Barry University’s commitment to enriching opportunities for our students while serving as a strong community partner,” said Barry University President Dr. Mike Allen. “By joining with Miami Country Day, we’re modeling how higher education and K–12 can collaborate in ways that benefit all students.”

Mariandl Hufford, President and Head of Miami Country Day School, echoed that sentiment: “This agreement provides our students with access to Barry’s championship-level facilities, while also supporting Barry’s athletes through use of our swimming complex. It’s a true win-win partnership for our institutions and the Miami Shores community.”

The announcement was celebrated with a signing ceremony at Barry University, bringing together leaders, student-athletes, and community members to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for sports and education in Miami Shores.
