From championships and personal bests to exuding resilience and leadership, the student-athletes at Barry University embody what it means to play and lead with grit and vision. One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Bucky Awards shines a spotlight on the individuals and teams who represent the very best of BarryU Athletics.

Now in its 10th year, the annual event has become a signature tradition within the department, honoring the top moments, standout individuals, and unforgettable achievements that defined the past season across all Buccaneer teams. The Bucky Awards is not just about participation, it’s about honoring those who rose to the challenge and conquered it.

The 2024–25 season saw Barry athletic teams compete at the highest levels, collecting conference titles, earning national rankings, as well as dominating on their home turf and beyond.

Barry athletes prove each year that hard work and teamwork fuel greatness. Each award recipient reflects not only their individual success but also the competitive spirit embodied by past and present Buccaneers and the pride of the entire Barry community.

This year also marked a historic milestone for the Bucky Awards. For the first time in ceremony history, awards were presented separately for men and women, a reflection of the program’s remarkable growth from 12 to 20 varsity sports.

Student-athletes at Barry continuously raise the bar both on the field or court and most importantly, in the classroom. In Fall 2024, all 20 varsity teams achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, underscoring the discipline and dedication students are encouraged to incorporate in every aspect of their lives.

This academic excellence earned Barry its tenth straight NCAA President’s Award, recognizing Division II schools with a 90% or higher Academic Success Rate.

Even more impressive, a record 57 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, joining the prestigious Fall 2024 4.0 Club.
