Barry University is proud to announce its recognition in the 2025 Carnegie Classifications as an Opportunity College and University institution. This designation places Barry among an elite group of only 479 institutions that make up just 16% of all classified colleges and universities that are being spotlighted for their commitment to advancing student success and economic mobility.

In the newly developed Student Access and Earnings Classification, Barry University stands out for enrolling a student body that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves and for ensuring that its graduates go on to earn competitive wages in their respective fields. The classification draws on data from the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Census Bureau, and IPEDS to assess both student demographics and long-term earnings outcomes. Barry’s performance in this classification affirms its long-standing mission to provide high-impact education to underrepresented students and to support their success well beyond graduation.

In addition to this recognition, Barry University has also received the Professions-focused Undergraduate/Graduate-Doctorate Medium designation in the 2025 Institutional Classification. This designation highlights the university’s continued focus on career-driven academic programs across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Barry is 1 of only 135 institutions nationwide to earn this distinction.

These recognitions reflect the ongoing work Barry University has done for decades: preparing students to lead with purpose, equipping them with the tools to thrive in today’s economy, and remaining deeply engaged with the needs of its surrounding communities. As an institution rooted in the values of social justice and collaborative service, Barry University remains committed to expanding access to quality education and to building pathways that lead to meaningful careers.
