Each year, Barry University hosts a TEDx event at the David Brinkley Studio, located in Garner Hall on campus. This year, the focus of the Barry University TEDx event is Digital Humanity. A TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to sharing ideas worth spreading. The x is included to symbolize an independently organized TED event. At this TEDx event, live speakers will foster meaningful discussions and build connections with the audience.

This upcoming event is all about delving into digital humanity and how we can preserve our humanity as we navigate through a tech-driven world. This thought-provoking event will feature nine guest speakers reflecting on the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age. Each speaker will explore how to preserve our humanity by prioritizing ethics, empathy, and authentic human connection in a rapidly evolving tech-driven world.

TEDx Barry University event 2025 is set to feature a diverse and inspiring lineup of speakers, each bringing their unique experience to the stage. To highlight a few of the speakers, David Bitton, a seasoned entrepreneur with two successful business exits, will share insights from his journey, as highlighted in platforms like Forbes and Nasdaq. Dr. Vee Johnson, also known as “The EQ Doctor,” aims to empower individuals by harnessing the power of emotions and social interactions. Meanwhile, Dr. Jeff Frey will delve into the intricate balance between artificial intelligence and emotional intelligence. Adding to the mix, Dr. Nadia Afkhami, a first-generation Iranian immigrant and optometrist, brings her perspective as a dedicated healthcare provider. Also, Mark Kilpatrick, the founder of Affinity Esports, will discuss creating healthier and more inclusive spaces within the gaming and media industries.

The TEDx Barry University Digital Humanity event will also feature student speaker, Victor Santos Frizzera. Victor is a student studying Business Management who has gained experience working with technological and digital initiatives at Barry University, including marketing campaigns, IT & AI related courses, as well as the Digital Transformation Lab. Additionally, his young perspective enhances relatability with the audience, as he brings the unique experiences of someone who has grown up immersed in technology. Together, these speakers will craft meaningful conversations about the intersection of technology, humanity, and progress.
