As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform industries worldwide, Barry University is ensuring its students don’t just keep pace with change—they lead it. Through the newly established AI Center at Barry University, students across all majors will gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools, positioning them for success in an increasingly digital world.
“At Barry University, we recognize that AI is not just for computer scientists—it’s reshaping every profession,” said Dr. Bogdan Daraban, Vice-Provost for Technology Innovation and Education at Barry University. “Our mission is to provide all students, regardless of their field of study, with the knowledge and skills to use AI effectively and ethically. This initiative reflects our commitment to preparing graduates who are not only career-ready but also capable of leveraging technology for the greater good.”
Barry University is embedding AI competencies into its curriculum, ensuring students in business, healthcare, education, the arts, and beyond graduate with future-ready skills. Students can also earn a 9-credit AI certificate to enhance their resumes and stand out in competitive job markets.
In addition to coursework, students can apply AI concepts through real-world consulting projects at Barry University’s Digital Transformation Lab (DX Lab). This dynamic workspace offers consulting experiences, industry networking, and dynamic applications of AI solutions. Students are gaining proficiency in industry-standard AI technologies, including machine learning frameworks and generative AI platforms, directly boosting their employability. For example, recent projects in the DX Lab have helped local businesses optimize operations, demonstrating immediate, tangible benefits to the community.
“Rather than just training students on specific tools (which may be outdated in a few years), the university is preparing them to think critically about AI, apply it ethically, and stay agile in a shifting landscape. The integration of hands-on learning in the DX Lab and industry collaborations also ensures that students are engaging with real-world applications, not just theoretical concepts,” added Vice-Provost Daraban.
