As a college student these days, you’ll often find yourself spinning plates—an endless balancing act of responsibilities and assignments. All of this in search of a degree that will ultimately land you the job of your dreams. For marketing students at Barry University, their pursuit of happiness just got a lot easier. Enter Dr. Sheng and her course MKT486 Advertising and Brand Promotion Experiential Learning Course.

Students in this program work directly with businesses to create marketing campaigns that enhance their individual portfolios and prepare them to hit the ground running upon graduation. They learn high-demand skills in digital marketing, advertising and brand promotion—ensuring they’re intimately acquainted with every facet of the industry.

This semester, students worked with local favorite, Gonzo’s Empanadas to enhance their marketing efforts. They developed and implemented a marketing strategy, brought to life through their own creativity. From crafting engaging social media campaigns to designing eye-catching visuals and refining the brand’s messaging, students leveraged their skills to connect with the target audience in an authentic and compelling way. Their innovative approach not only helped establish Gonzo’s Empanadas as a recognizable name but also provided them with valuable hands-on experience in executing real-world marketing strategies.

These students do it all: video production, social media marketing, web design, and sales promotion strategies. And most importantly, the students unanimously believe that working on a real business project made the course more meaningful.
