We continue to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty in their groundbreaking research contributions to the fields of social work, mental health, and overall well-being.
Today, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ashley Austin and her co-author, the esteemed former BUSSW faculty member, Dr. Shelley Craig, for their remarkable work on the AFFIRM project. Drs. Austin and Craig have dedicated over a decade to research, development, publication, and testing of the AFFIRM intervention, which commenced in 2010.
We are thrilled to share the remarkable news that, following a rigorous evaluation process, AFFIRM has earned recognition and secured its place in the California Evidence Based Clearing House Registry as a Promising Practice. Moreover, our accomplishment has been prominently featured in their latest back-to-school newsletter.
Further underscoring AFFIRM’s significance, it has also garnered acclaim from SAMHSA, being included in their recent guidebook, “Adapting Evidence Based Practices for Under-resourced Populations,” which is freely accessible to all.
In addition to our jubilation for Dr. Austin and Dr. Craig, we proudly applaud Dr. Mitch Rosenwald for the publication of his highly anticipated textbook, “Political Ideology and Social Work,” by the prestigious Columbia University Press. This landmark achievement is further highlighted by the acknowledgments from some of the most eminent macro social work educators in our nation, including luminaries such as Michael Reisch and Richard Hoefer. International social work scholar Amanda Barusch has contributed the foreword, adding to the distinction of Dr. Rosenwald’s work.
Today, we honor and celebrate these exceptional accomplishments that demonstrate our commitment to excellence in research and education. Congratulations to all on these remarkable achievements!
