Dr. Tony Umadhay, PhD, CRNA, APRN, and Dean of the School of Nursing at Barry University, has been awarded the prestigious Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (FAANA) designation. Recognized for his exemplary leadership and contributions to the field of nurse anesthesiology, Dr. Umadhay was among only 58 inductees in 2023. With over 30 years as a registered nurse and 20 years as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), he has dedicated his career to enhancing patient safety and the CRNA profession. He has been a member of AANA since 2001 and is acknowledged for his international leadership in academic nursing.

Significantly, Dr. Umadhay has worked with Filipino organizations to develop an Anesthesia Care Nurse certificate curriculum, making a transformative impact on healthcare in the Philippines. The FAANA title is AANA’s highest honor, signifying expertise, service, and a commitment to transformative work in the field. It requires at least 10 consecutive years of AANA membership and full-time CRNA practice, among other criteria.
