Barry University’s Federal Work-Study (FWS) Community Service Program supports local nonprofits, enhancing their operations and providing students with work experience. Those mutual benefits were highlighted during two partner sessions earlier this month.
In the two-day sessions, local nonprofits participated in the FWS 2023–2024 academic year orientation to understand available resources and discuss fresh perspectives.
Aligned with Barry Service Corps, FWS Community Service integrates with Center for Community Service Initiatives to encouarge student commitment to community challenges. Together, the organizations nurture students career skills and provide much needed assistance to local nonprofits. In total, 21 representatives from 15 organizations attended the orientation.
Notable community service days in 2023–2024:
- Coastal Cleanup: Sep 16, 2023
- Food Security: Oct 14, 2023
- Founders’ Day: Nov 11, 2023
- Martin Luther King Day: Jan 20, 2024
